College of Management Major Requirements

The business foundation and business core courses are the same for most College of Management majors. Degree requirements will vary from one major to another such specific requirement courses and electives.

Business foundation courses

Business foundation courses provide tools and concepts that are important for many other business courses. The following courses, especially college algebra, should be completed early in your program because they are prerequisites for many other courses.

  • College Algebra
  • Statistics
  • Macroeconomics
  • Microeconomics
  • Financial Accounting
  • Fundamentals of Information Technology in Organizations

When you are admitted to the Business Online program, any previous transfer courses will be evaluated to see if they may satisfy any of the business foundation requirements. Refer to the Course Equivalency Chart for courses that may be completed at a partner institution.

Business core courses

Business core courses help you develop an understanding of the various functional areas that make up a successful business: operations, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing. Several of these courses are prerequisites for other required and elective business courses. Case Studies in Strategic Management is a capstone course, taken near the end of the program, in which you pull together the knowledge gained in previous major courses to address a specific business case.

  • Marketing Principles

Major required and elective courses

Major required courses enable you to develop more in-depth knowledge in your major area. Major electives allow you to tailor your program to your personal goals by selecting from a range of course options. Required and elective courses will vary depending on the major you chose.
