| Invest in yourself by developing
effective research and study skills. A comprehensive resource
for online learners is the Web site provided by the University
of Chicago Student Counseling and Resource Service.
This site offers information about study skills and other
necessary academic skills.
If you prefer a more structured class in developing your
research skills, the following course is offered both online
and on-campus:
INFS 115 Information Access (2 credits)
Quality research is required in all academic programs.
In this class, students explore critical issues about information;
learn practical step-by-step techniques for making the most
of electronic and print resources; and apply information
access principles to evaluate online databases and World
Wide Web sites. The application of these skills to any subject
area is demonstrated through a final project requiring the
development of a search strategy on a topic of academic
or personal interest.
