Degree Requirements

If you have previously completed college-level courses at other accredited institutions, it is very possible that your previous coursework can be transferred and used towards your A.S. degree from a Partner Institution and/or your B.S. degree from the College of Management of Metropolitan State University.

As part of the process of admission to a college and program, your previous transfer courses will be evaluated to determine whether and how they will apply toward your new program. Generally, transfer courses from accredited colleges meet degree requirements when the level and content is very similar.

If you are planning to complete an Associate degree from a Partner Institution, your transfer courses will be evaluated when you have been admitted to that specific institution.

Transfer credit evaluation for a Metropolitan State business degree is a two-step process. When you apply for admission to Metropolitan State, the Admissions Office will determine how many credits transfer and which general education and liberal studies (GELS) requirements are satisfied by these courses. When you are admitted to the Business Online program, the College of Management will determine if your previous courses will meet specific requirements for the business major program. For more details, including information about which community college courses from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area community colleges can meet business major requirements, go to Metropolitan State transfer information.

For general information for students transferring between Minnesota educational institutions, go to the MnTransfer Web site.
