What are the requirements for
acceptance to Business Online?
To be accepted into Business Online, you must:
The minimum GPA for acceptance to Business Online varies
according to your standing. Newly enrolling freshmen have
a different requirement than students who have already completed
several college courses. If you are a new entering freshman,
you need to have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 or
higher. Students with at least 16 graded college credits
need to have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students
need to meet Metropolitan
State and the partner
institution admission requirements.
Meeting the minimum GPA requirement provides evidence of your ability
to be successful as a classroom student and is predictive of your
likely success as an online student.
I’m not yet
a student at Metropolitan State. Is there a deadline for applying?
Yes, there is a deadline. To get into the courses you need,
apply to admission
before the deadline, and register
during your timetable.
I’ve
taken courses at another college. Will the credits transfer to Metropolitan
State?
In most cases, some or all of the credits you have earned at another
institution will transfer. Metropolitan State evaluates transfer
credits at the time you are admitted to the university and provides
a copy of the transfer evaluation to you and to your academic advisor.
Thus, as soon as you are admitted to Metropolitan State, you will
know which credits transfer and the extent to which they meet general
education and liberal studies requirements or requirements in the
major. My cumulative
GPA is too low. What are my options?
Business Online is not the best program for everyone. We
want to be sure you can succeed in the online environment
before accepting you into the program. If your GPA is below
the 2.5 minimum requirement for Business Online you can
still take courses online at Metropolitan University as
long as you have satisfied the prerequisites and remain
in good academic standing.
Can I take
Business Online courses without being admitted to Metropolitan
State or a partner institution?
You can register for Metropolitan State regular courses
as a special (not-admitted) student. Only admitted students
can take courses at a partner
institution.
However, you must be admitted to Metropolitan State to
be accepted into Business Online. (Read more about applying
to the Business Online program.)
Applying for institutional admission brings further advantages.
As an admitted student, you will take diagnostic assessments that
will help you choose courses appropriate to your skills. You will
have access to an academic advisor who can help you understand how
your transfer credits, if any, fit into a degree program and will
help you progress efficiently toward degree completion. How do I apply for
admission to Metropolitan State University? Applying for admission to Metropolitan State University
as a Business Online student involves completing an application
and paying a $20 application fee. If you have previously
taken college courses, you will also have to ask your previous
institution(s) to forward your official transcripts to the
admissions office.
How
do I apply for admission to a partner institution?
Applying for admission to a partner institution involves
completing an application and paying an application fee.
If you have previously taken college courses, you will also
have to ask your previous institution(s) to forward your
official transcripts to the partner
institution's admissions office.
I'm an international
student. Can I become a Business Online student?
At this time, we are not accepting international students into
Business Online. When we believe that we have sufficient support
services in place, we will review this policy at that time.
If you are an international student already in the United States
on an F-1 visa, you cannot become
a Business Online student. Read
