Institution Admission Procedures

Metropolitan State University offers online a Bachelor Science (B.S.) in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Organizational Administration and Industrial Management. To help ensure students to be successful in the online environment, we have established

  • A weighted minimum 2.5 GPA requirement and at least 16 credits of college course work or
  • If no college course work, then a 3.0 cumulative High School GPA.
  • If you are completing one of the B.A.S. business degree programs, you must complete an A.A.S. degree with a 2.5 GPA or higher from an institution with an articulation agreement in place with Metropolitan State.

The time it takes to get admitted will vary depending on your situation:

  • If you have already been admitted to Metropolitan State University, and are applying to Business Online, please allow 7-10 business days for an admissions decision.
  • If you are applying to Metropolitan State University and Business Online simultaneously, please allow 4 weeks for an admissions decision once ALL application materials have been received including application, $20.00 application fee and all official transcripts. The review process will not begin until the application is complete. Incomplete applications will be deferred to the next semester.
  • If you have not yet completed your general education requirements, a Metropolitan State Academic Online Advisor will work with you and the Partner Institutions so that you can complete the four-year degree online.
  • If you prefer to complete an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Business, Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) two-year technical program or an Associate of Arts (A.A.) at this time (and possibly complete a B.S. or B.A.S. business degree in the future) we encourage you to apply to one of the Partner Institutions.
  • If you are an international student on F1 Visa we can admit you to Metropolitan State for on-campus courses, but not to Business Online. No matter how many online credits you register for, only 3 credits of online course work will count toward your minimum credit load. Being an online student would put your F1 Visa out of status.
  • If your GPA is below the 2.5 minimum requirement for Business Online, you may still take courses online at Metropolitan State University as long as you satisfy the prerequisites and remain in good academic standing.
